Another interesting game nerdook. You have a great style and constantly bring new ideas and randomness to the table, very refreshing. Now if only Kongregate would do something like permanently ban all of these score cheaters from ever having their scores show up on the high scores table again.. yeah..
Would really prefer if you had to hold down the run/invisible keys for it to stay active. Its way too easy to hit the key and have it activate/deactivate just as quickly and get you killed.
The music in the menu is a song called "Call For Heroes" by Pierre Gerwig Langer. You can find a 'preview' version of the song on http://www.shockwave-sound.com/track/6841. Its the 'no choir' version.
Enjoyable graphics, some nice music, overall pretty decent game if a bit easy though, beat the game with plenty of experience to spare and fully maxed out two different characters. Achilles had the more satisfying animations in my opinion.
My only real complaint? Not going to the other site to try the 3rd character, sorry. Games posted on Kongregate shouldnt be limited, thats just silly. However i understand it brings in advertising revenue. Still there should be a better way than limiting games uploaded to Kongregate.
Seems to be a bug where you cannot see your stats upgrade after you level up until you switch hats. This is noticeable mostly on unit health. I had an assassin with 450 health + 50 health hat and his stats didnt change for 4-5 levels, till i decided to switch his hats, then suddenly they updated (for that unit only.) It showed 500 health on the battlefield too, till changing hats to something else and back again, then upgraded his health to 522.
Enjoyable little game, the random element does add for some replayability and in a sense reminds me of the free indie games Spelunky and Probability 0. Good to see more games which employ random levels and random enemies/powerups. The scores could use some fixing by the looks of it though. Seems a bugfix or a re-working of the way scoring is done might help prevent some exploits.
Am i the only one who thinks that this site needs DARK backgrounds for its games? Better yet, how about a user customizable color or pattern. Im tired of playing dark games on a blaring white background.
The levels towards the end play out a bit too quickly in the sense that they dont give you a lot of time to figure out what you need to do, but otherwise a 5 star game here. Small, but enjoyable and packed with information, even has a decent story and some nice music. Good job.
Creative concept for a game, but relies a bit too much on guess work. Once you combine two elements to get a new one, you often think to yourself 'oh that sorta makes sense' sometimes anyway. The proverbs are a nice touch. I cant think of a way to improve the base gameplay though except to perhaps show the player the next thing/s that they can create, and have them try to figure out the combination that creates it.
An interesting concept game with a similar feel to games like the space game, and harvest massive encounter, except significantly lower difficulty. Bit too easy for veterans of the genera but worth it to get the badges atleast. Introducing a finite resource that needs mining before structures can be built would increase the difficulty and allow you not to just spam buildings once you have a strong energy income.
Mouse control makes the game more difficult, could potentially be more enjoyable with keyboard control of the lights too. Might make the game easier in some places. Not a bad little game. 20 was a bit frustrating but not too bad.
To a previous comment i made about 30 comments ago and in response to a comment made by studios_199:
I agree, the re-randomization would allow the game to have a much higher replay value in that you could change strategies at any point based on what luck you have. But something you have to keep in mind, is that this game is being scored against other players. Thats why i suspect that it was removed, and a very valid reason too. A player could just keep re-rolling every day until they get the max possible bonus and thusly increasing their score to unbeatable levels. I suspect thats already been done to some degree and what prompted its removal.
I cant see an alternative that would be fair other than disallowing saved games to be scored, but that would make even more people upset. Removing the completely random AP events is about the only way i can see to make scoring relatively fair.
You guys sure do complain a lot with regards to no longer being able to reload your game and get different search results. The results are random, they just arnt re-randomized after you load a save game, so now you cant cheat to avoid bad rolls.
OMG WUT DO U MEEN I KANT CHEET NO MORE?!?!
Ugh.. seriously. The only way that it could possibly detract from the gameplay is if you cant figure out how to get past it on your current save, or dont get lucky enough to without cheating the rolls. There wouldnt be much point to the game if there wasnt some degree of strategy or challenge to it. Either you played poorly, or you got unlucky. Start over and try again.
While theres not much gameplay to this game, i have to say that its one of my favorites for the story, as short as it is. Somehow the writing is perfectly suited to the story, and the brief bit of music too. I applaud the author for a story that can tell a tale and evoke an emotion.
The game is somewhat enjoyable, but things happen way way too fast in it. I played the previous game to this series and i still have trouble keeping up. Theres never a moment where you arnt trying to click on something to frantically get it built. Would be much more fun if it ran at 1/2 speed.
