Using the strategy of just ramming the boss with my borg-like ship and calling 4 lvl 2 supports works great; although the last boss I tried it on hated it so much that the HUD, enemies, projectile, boss itself, and my own ship disappeared--only the placeholder squares for the boss were visible...
Whoa, what if that's what this game is... you actually have to defeat the GAME by breaking it instead of beating all the levels with their bosses. That explains why all the levels & bosses are the same!
It would be great if different creatures took more damage from various types of weaponry. For example, fire spells & attacks do more damage against zombies than ghosts.
Excellent game! 5/5
The change to make building and scouting 100% safe is a huge departure from the original. Making those 2 actions always safe makes your soldiers a lot more available. So this makes defense and acquiring new blocks much easier than the original Rebuild. Kinda took away some of the challenge.
Allowing your people to hold multiple skills (scientist + builder + soldier) made the game much more flexible but also made losing one devastating (for the short term, I guess--wasn't easy to replace an all-ten person but it was do-able).
The items are a cool enhancement, too. It was really, really nice to equip scientists with school books. Items made early to early-mid game a lot more pleasant.
Overall, the original seemed much more difficult. Or maybe I became much more awesome at this game inbetween releases? I played Impossible on the Huge map and beat it on my first try. It was really fun, though, so no complaints.
Unfortunately I got tired of the repetitive gameplay when "The Exiles" came around and quit for good. Having a different soundtrack per level might be good. Possibly a different sound track when a big, boss ship appears. The gears that you pick up look a little like missiles and I tried avoid them for a while and wondered how on earth I wasn't dying since I was being hit with all these missiles (wait, gears).
BT was great. Just listen to the sound track--so serene. And the cool sound effects--everyone loves popping those packing bubbles. Having a pleasing, satisfying sound like that every time you shot was euphoric.
Also, I researched the archer unit and when i reloaded the game for the 3rd time (tough battle), I had lost the tech. I immediately lost interest in the game after that.
