genius. I took months to design a complicated game that nobody plays. This is short and hal litarally 900 times the people of all three of my games games combined. I was pissed at first, but nice work
the art is great. however, the puzzle is a little confusing seing that i dont really understand what anything is. its all just black. and i got past the first puzzle but in scene two i just started pressing buttons 4/5
and to make the character die if he falls off the cliff. ___onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (this._y>=900) {
this._x=30, 5;
this._y = 636;
_root.lives -= 1;
___pretty much, place it on the character actionscript. And it means if the characters position (x,y) execed a cetrtian number (in my case 900, but it should be about 100 more than the height of the stage) than decrease the varieble lives (you have to set a varieble called lives and do action scritp that when it is less than 0, the player goes to a next frame which is the game over) and it replaces the character at a nex (x,y) position. good luck with that
ahh, a fellow devoleper. You have done well so far. Its a very herd thing, making a game. I just finished my first platformer-Pantone Pandemonium. Took me forever. But this website is where i get all my stuff from
http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/Flash/Games/1
its really great. That and there was one on new grounds.com that helped me with my platformer. You have a good start. Keep working.
And the graphics. I have gotten alot of slack for my graphics. ANd i see where come of you are coming from, however, that is my style of drawing. And i am heavily influenced by graphic dezign. So if i were to make more complex characters, they would have to look awesome and clean. I am working on another game with much better images. And the jumping on the elevators is a problem i am aware of. I dont really know how to get around it. As of now, you have to be in contact with the ground to jump. And on the platforms you kinda bounce up and down wether you see it or not. And if i were to take that property of having to touch the ground away you could jump in mid air which would be very cheap. But thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
well, i will try to adress all these issues. This is only my second game, my first done without a tutorial. But the jumping, i could make it bigger, but part of the challange is timing it off the corners. Although falling through corners is a problem. I have never experience that. I will look into it. But also if i made the jump bigger, i would have to re-sise alot of my levels because they are based on the fact that you can only jump a certain distance.
oh wow, you are a douche. There are people who actually make their own games (me) and work really hard. ANd then you come alpng with a great game. But hey, oits not yours. I have played this game many times and i love it. But this version sucks, not that its any ddifferent. But because its stolen.
OK. If you guys are having problems, follow exactly what the tutorial says. Save the files as the tutorial says. And I think the main problem everyone is having is that they dont save the actionscript file. It should be saved as Ship. And the MovieClip should also be names Ship. Yes, caps do matter. Also, for the record, Im pretty sure CS3, CS4, and Flash 8 has no effect on this game. The upgrade is primarily User interface, integration with the other Adobe software, and integration with the intel processors.
Ok, this makes no sense. I did exactly as is said. Although i did not import an image because my broswer would not let me downlaod the image. But im using CS3 and I didnot get an error message. It just would not work. I would press left, right, up and down and nothing happened. Could sombody please help?
