Looks like a "pay to win" type of game. Just an FYI, but those types of games fail 99% of the time. Check out League of Legends (pay for vanity items, all other things fair) and they make a fair amount of money without scalping their players. You might want to reconsider your approach.
The reason that the CPU's do better with shorter ranged weapons is that how long it takes them to aim and shoot at something is influenced by the distance between them and the target. If they are using sniper rifles, for instance, it takes them much longer to be shoot than a human player.
I was so excited to play this game.. at first. I was hoping for more of a survival-type game with a bit of fantasy mixed in. What we have here is less survival and more so just a typical RPG. I would recommend, to make this game a lot more dynamic, adding a survival element. What I mean is, say you get the stick. Okay, knock down some bushes. That's what got me excited. Then take the stick and some vines and fashion a workbench. And you could go on and on from there, perhaps even have a plot of land from which you could adventure from, but is somewhere to call home. Maybe you can make a house, cook things, etc. It makes much more sense than "Okay, I'mma smash this stick into this iron ore and make a shank!" But that's just me. This game could be a whole lot deeper if you were so inclined.
Energy expenditure needs to be based on your skill in whatever action the duck is doing. More energy need to fly faster, etc, should account for increased energy use, AND it would give the coins a point.
