So. The game has potential as a maybe kind of OK shoot and scoot.
But there's some fundamental issues you should address:
1. You should make it clearer on the start screen as to how and when the game will start. I just had to button mash the controls until I found the right one, and then I died immediately. No fun.
2. Which leads me to the second point. Can you tweak the mob spawn so that the zoms don't spawn randomly directly on top of the protagonist? It's annoying when I just start off, haven't gotten any hearts, and 3 zombies spawn directly on top of me, ending the game. Seriously no fun.
3. More hp, less damage done by the zoms (maybe lose a half heart per hit instead of a whole heart), and more health. Frantic games are fun, but the spawn rate in this game is so off the charts that I find myself dying more due to random spawns then due to lack of skill.
Otherwise, the music is placid, and I'd be excited to see you expand on the initial idea.
^_^ I'll try to fix all, though maybe I'll make a second part or so because the code is too messy. I won't make the same game, I'll try to pick up more things people are telling me to make a better game. Thank you very much for your great comment :)
Yeah seriously screw you, dev, and the final boss. Do you think you could code levels that can be beat in fewer than 10 tries? I like a challenge but you apparently have no grasp of the line between "interesting" and "stupidly annoying".
It would be nice if there was some sort of auto-pause for when the cursor leaves the game screen. I've seen some games implementing this feature (Versus Umbra being one) and it is very nice and keeps the bad blood pressure down. There isn't anything like a last shoot and scoot, low health gambit being ruined by my accidentally leaving the playing field and opening a link to somewhere. Also, being able to switch to a secondary weapon mid-reload would make having a secondary in the first place actually have a point.
Criticism aside, this is a good fun top down shooter with kind of interesting weapons.
Bwahhh the fish catching minigame is near impossible for those of us with a laptop trackpad. 30 fish was pushing it, 35 fish is impossible. Otherwise, great game. I hope you address the fishing game thing in week three tho'. It's just one of those aggravating grind through things anyway.
Thanks! I'm not sure if you already read it from previous comments, but I do plan to fix and pretty much get rid of Sharp Harpoon in Week Three. You may only play it once, and even then I'll try to improve it for all players. All I can suggest for a trackpad is to use both hands, or even practice with one hand and your thumb. I switched to my laptop trackpad just to test it out, and I honestly had no problem getting 35 with like 8 seconds left, on my first attempt using the trackpad. Also, I HATE trackpads, and if you play alot of games on Kongregate you should definitely consider grabbing a cheap mouse for $4.99.
A second set of challenges for the paradox missions would have been nice. The pay-for-content thing had me a bit chagrined at first, but the game is very good. Funny, good weapons system, etc... I might even pay for an extra set of missions. Good work, but I hope the next game is not as money related.
I played the Beta (Alpha?) of this game as a widget on my mac dashboard. It's a bit laggy for me through the Unity player. Steering could be tighter, and/or more intuitive. Otherwise, I really want this game to be fun. Keep up the good work.
Game is not synced up right, which gets annoying. Plus that "Super Awesome Metal" version of Twelve Days of Christmas is pretty lame from a music standpoint. Wowee zowee, I can move my fingers fast too.
No. this game is still lame. Gave it a fair shake. Fine, maybe I'm a whiney noob. But the mechanics are certainly weighted against the player in a way that makes the game no gd fun.
