Good game. But I really think the spawnrate of the black faction is too high: the last three levels are so incredibly impossible to beat on the hard setting.
Maybe tweak that a bit. No fun in trying for 30 times to only succeed by luck.
What to say:
The graphics are nice, I like the audio and the game plays well enough.
But the design brings up a lot of questions:
1) What's up with the umbrella? How does the kitty fly?
2) What's up with the piles of rocks?
3) What's up with the floating (and not flying) crows?
4) What's up with... etc.. etc..
And most important of all: the game did not really entice me to finish it :(
So maybe a bit more polish?
Still, I'm giving it a 4/5, why not. Because kittens ;)
Pushing is too slow, movement too erratic. Selecting the levels-menu (S) after clearing a level cancels the progress made. Graphics looked wonky. Music is annoying. But on the plus side: the levels need some thinking. Some, not much ;)
Okay, it is pretty annoying that the enemies use strafing to avoid your shots. Other enemies do nothing but die. That wouldn't be too terrible if you own movement was fluid, but alas: wooden and laggy.
Nice game. I love the original game mechanic: jumpswitch. The game was not difficult and has a cute look. Bit meager ending though :D Can't wait for new levels / version 2. 5/5 from me :) :)
And ofcourse, after complaining about level 45 I decided to try it 1 more time and guess what: with luck (I got a + powerup) I beat it. Phew. Thank goodness for luck.
I really liked it. The pixelgraphics. The sound. The playability: the controls were perfect. And the difficulty was just right. A bit more story would be great and a sense of direction. But that are details. Overall a 5/5 for me!
Nice game. I love the little details like the falling chair. And that's one weird and hostile spacestation :D
The low gravity jumping is nice. Good to have a difficult game without a difficult pace. 5/5 from me.
Nice game! Look good, I like the graphics: it's cute. The game itself begins easy, but after a few levels it gets challenging. The game reminds me of other 'classics' like it and that is a good thing. 5/5 from me :)
I find it incredible how it is possible to have such an engaging game with so few pixels. And the puzzles were tough but doable. Just exactly the right amount of frustrating ;) A well deserved 5/5!!!
I like it: it is indeed a good combination of the great TD's before it. Very nice. One suggestion: in the mission screen, where you determine how difficult the mission will be, maybe make an extra button so you can select the whole easy/medium/hard row.
To the developers: great game!
.
But I found a terribly annoying bug: when jumping to the right (holding jump and arrow to the right), you can perform attack, thus getting higher by bouncing of enemies or targets.
BUT: jumping left (holding jump and left arrow) you cannot perform attack. The game blocks the third keyboard input somehow.
.
This is making for example level 17-A a nightmare/impossible.
.
I reconfigured the keys to use JKLI instead of the arrows and then it works as it should. So it seems the left arrow input is bugged.
Question to the developers:
Are the levels the second time around (after unlocking the Bomber zombie) more difficult? Because I suddenly have incredible difficulty with "Eskimo Town" and "Secret base 2". Have everything maxed out and tried them 25+ times, but I can not win. First time around (before unlocking the Bomber) it was a piece of cake.
Too bad I had to adjust my mousespeed outside the game: the controls are too jumpy. When you have figured out the puzzle but you just keep dying because of the controls gets very frustrating. The idea and especially the implementation is great: great look. Very Portally/Steamy.
.
So fix the controls and expand the game and this could be a winner :)
.
Last question: where's the secret? ;)
Yes it is getting more difficult each time, you can try using support to help you complete the level
