kill kill kill...get to stage 106, stomp the spider...stage 107 - insta-death. WTF happened? It's not Burn. I have no idea wtf hit me. This is the absolutely most frustrating thing about this game. If there was a log that I can go back and read, that'd easily remedy this situation, since I can see what the heck happened and adjust. I just feel like I make a good build, then I die suddenly, and have no idea what went wrong.
I don't really understand why you coded literal diminishing returns into each of the upgrades. Linearly progressing values naturally have diminishing returns as the increase of going from X to X+1 is always going to be less than going from X-1 to X. In other words, going from 1 to 2 is a 100% increase. Going from 2 to 3 is only 50% more. 3 to 4 is 25%, etc. Also, the currency rewards should be standard, not diminished with each passing run. By virtue of the fact that the player has already spent X points in upgrades, receiving the same amount is ALREADY a diminished return. i.e. if wave 80 always gave 1000 Fortune, there's a natural point where it's simply not beneficial to keep resetting at wave 80. There's no need to artificially code a degradation. Anyway, nice game, but I disliked how points were distributed.
I was a big fan of the first two, and I feel that this one shares a similar spirit, but given modern game design, this game does not live up to the expectations of a 3rd game in a series. I feel like this needs some ingredients from modern idle/upgrade games where you can reset the game and start over with certain upgrades, or there simply needs to be more content. The graphics, sounds, and gameplay are actually great, but there isn't enough game here to get invested in your ship, or actually have some fun with all your upgrades.
Good concept as a lot of others have mentioned, but there is too little reward for time spent. I went through a couple of planes, ascended some classes, but the next plane was just more of the same.
I can't get over how disappointing this sequel is. I would've flipped for an Epic War 4 clone with new units and spells. Instead, it's all the same stuff from Epic War 4, but boring.
5 stars, great game. Alternating between waves and gather/build phases would help. Still, I love the mix of puzzle and TD. Fresh take on a stale genre.
Excellent game, fully recommend, 5 stars. Feedback: Add a "low quality" setting for the graphics so that the game doesn't slow down when a lot of mobs are on the screen at once. Shield makes the game too easy. Make it so that you can't continuously cast it (cool down, perhaps?). The "attack chain" animations should take targets into consideration. If the first sword swing kills everything in range, then don't do the 2nd and 3rd attacks. It seems as though some creatures should be produced faster as they are leveled up, Goblins for example, also, Valkyries and Great Protectors...these guys are tanks, but take forever to produce and move slowly. I really liked the variety of creatures. It seems that there are creatures to suit every playstyle.
I don't see the bugginess. I just don't think people realize that they have to wait about 3 seconds to save their game. Good quality game overall, good story that was easily digestible in one good playthrough. Fully recommend it. 5/5.
Don't worry about trying to "play the game". Instead, go for medals, and keep restarting to gain more and more medals. i.e. go after Chickens with your first play-through, then try to hit level 10 with all the classes, etc.
My most successful 4-man setup is Sheriff (player) with maxed out Doctor Holliday using a shotgun; a Noble with a Grav Gun; a Noble with a Rocket Launcher; and a Noble with a Bowgun, with Bow Master.
