What to do against Hippos?

I dont know why, but my safe gets randomly deleted, anyone knows why? I really like this game, but having to start from zero everytime is just meh :(

Is it intended that you cant get off the ladder on the "Streets"-Lvl, where you get the coins by jumping on cats.

What's up with the thieves on "the Streets"-Lvl, do they steal the coins? How to get these coins after they have been stolen? o.o
