In response to Benbenben11 mentioning the kilocalorie, it depends on what type of calorie they're talking about. The SI unit calorie is approximately the amount of energy needed to raise 1 gram of water by 1 degree celcius. The Calorie, with a capital c, on the other hand is 1000 calories. Since the game has the whole word capitalized, it's not quite apparent which one they're referring to.
