Decent game, but the fact that you could beat any opponent (including the last boss) before they get close enough to be able to damage you with S-A-A made it too easy. You can literally use that for the entire game. But I beat the game anyway, if that says anything about how fun this game was.
When you are designing spells that are supposed to be "trade-offs" to each other - ie spells that do similiar things (in this case, a simple nuke) you have to make them superior in different areas. In the case of a nuke, the areas are mana efficiency, cast time, and damage per second. When I first get energy bolt (and I'm not sure about later yet) it lags behind fireball in all 3 of these areas. 2 fireballs cost 44 energy, take 3 seconds to cast, and do 54 to 64 damage, while 1 energy bolt costs 45 energy, takes 3 seconds to cast, and deals 42 to 52 damage. Therefore these spells are unbalanced and I should never use energy bolt.
This is a good basic start to a game. The gameplay is fun. I like the starfox rolling. Finish the game by adding sound (music and sfx both), levels, weapon choices, ship choices, more enemies, and bosses and you have a winner
Would it be SO horrible to let me give orders to my teammates? He is SUCH a moron. It would be tactical and fun and awesome if I could control everyone. As it is, I can't stand to even play this game at all. Great framework, HUGE wasted opportunity.
