For a puzzle game it was too unforgiving on timing. Twice I gave up thinking my attempts weren't smart enough (after many fails) yet found they were exactly what the walkthrough said to do.
A potentially great game that left me with a bad aftertaste sadly.
I mastered the art of fitting 6 extractors in adjacent elements in a vertical column. It doesn't seem possible to do in a horizontal line, and it's killing me!
Also, a hefty toll to be able to change a life bonus would be hugely appreciated ♥
Tactic Tip:
Head straight towards 'Transmute' on the skill tree (via heal first), it's a gamechanger as soon as you get it. Once achieved, enchant your best artefacts (or transmuted gear) that you'll keep with 'MP Regen' (from Fractal Cabbages first found on floors 20-30ish). This feeds your heal spell and can take you the rest of the game in 1 or 2 runs. (Keeping other powerful enchantments eventually if you like!)
I spent all my levelling-up skills on Attack, until the lategame where +1 made very little difference. On the skill tree, after Transmute I took Telekinesis, which proved useful, then went for the big Attack and Defence bonuses. The XP ramp meant it would take a lot of time (after completion) to get any other of the outer skills, so I think delving in to the potion/gold branch would be counter-productive. The only craftable potions that proved any use were small MP potions used while enchanting.
Really loved it! Completed all levels with 3 stars =) Great difficulty ramp, lovely graphics and varied puzzles!
Room for improvement - it was annoying being forced to finish a level with spare fish remaining when there were only stars left. Also some levels felt too luck-based (particularly 28 where bubbles would stick between the wall and springboard, or not follow the intended path, if the angle was varied just slightly).
To beat the final campaign level, and a few of the others, the best method is just to run around and avoid being attacked until you get a 1-hit cheap kill weapon or a lucky opportunity. Shouldn't take you too many goes after you've worked out what each weapon does. Shame that that has to be the tactics, but it works =/
The end screen bugged out for me. On the last level all the menu buttons (restart, music etc) disappeared, but it didn't fade to white. I had to refresh and click the walkthrough button to realise I'd actually reached the end, which felt kind of unrewarding. Enjoyable concept though!
This was a really fun, good game. It needs some balancing though, I completed it at only level 24 with weapon 4/10 as my primary, having completed less than half the quests. I'm not worried about a little grind, but with no further levels to aim towards, I felt a tad disappointed. However that doesn't stop it from being a really fun game whilst it lasted, I just missed out on half of the unlocks. So 3.5/5 but 4.5 if fixed =)
I'm fairly sure this was a bug: up until I'd completed the last level, my money reset to 0 every time I started a new stage - giving no accumulation, so I could only spend what I'd earned from the level I'd just completed. The most I earned was about 16k making it impossible to even unlock the final penguin.
I don't know if this was intended for some forced replay value after completing the game but it really marred my enjoyment of it. However I imagine it was just a bug, so thought I'd bring it to your attention.
Masterkillerdude, the number plates looked different to me too but I think that the one on the left is just a reflection of the word CRAZY (from the one on the right)
Yeah, too slow in space and underwater. The 60 seconds actually took 3 minutes and 40 seconds. I don't really even have a slow computer. Still, everything else was fun for a while 3/5
Can you get these anywhere? I really want 58 (or 30 or 20). Most a really good But some seem like you wouldn't know where you were clicking. Still entertaining though 4*
Don't judge a book by its cover ;) Good job on beating it.
