So, I mentioned the inability to control direction earlier - the enemies still have horrible stun lock if you get more than one present. Additionally, the fact that enemies can approach from behind has caused some levels to stall almost indefinitely for me since leaving an enemy behind you is sure death if you encounter one in front due to the nature of the combat system...
I found the inability to actually control the direction your hero faces, and subsequently is able to ward off attacks, very annoying and almost a deal breaker for gameplay.
