For those of you who just want to beat "Cells": Build a line of collectors that end with mortars over the valleys. That will keep you alive as you slowly move forward with blasters until you are in range to build a relay for the goals.
The Reactors increase your energy, letting you power up more weapons and build more things at once. The mortars are the best. If you place them by a valley, they can keep spread down better than anything.
I'm trapped in a boss fight. *chuckles* I'm still playing at as I type this since there's no pause button.
When the boss died, he took up 90% of the screen and killed me, which is fine... except that there were no ships to steal. I grabbed a missile to wait out until another small ship came out to take over but one never showed up and I'm now trapped in a ship that doesn't fire. *chuckles*
This game was undoubtedly made by fans, for fans. I'm a fan, so I'm giving this a 4. Even so, this has only a sort of niche appeal for those of us that played the old Mech Warrior games.
As a fan: I liked the way you brought such a complicated game into a small, manageable format. I am surprised at the number of options that were incorporated form the original games. Do a little homework and see if you can come up with a campaign. Preferably one where we get to pick the missions like the good old days. :) Make the options a tad more diverse.
Also, I might just have had a bad run, but by mission 6, I didn't get one piece of salvage. There was nothing quite like the feel of finally taking down that guy who had better gear than me and then taking his overpowered gun and strapping it onto my mech. ^.^
I lasted till 2013. It's actually a pretty fun game. A bit challenging for those gamers who are more impulse based, but too simple for most of us strategy nuts. Fits a very small group of gamers but if you fall in there, this is a great one to try.
I loved the game's cynical overtone with the evil looking Ronald McDonald and the total Globicydidic action. ^.^
You can claim this game is a lot of things, but inventive, it's not. It's based of a minigame from "Might and Magic VII" called "Archomage". It was far better in its original form.
Not to mention the lack of gold rewards and completing quests gives winning a far less rewarding feel... *sigh*
