Too late for the BOTD, but some tips. Researched?, hard part late in the game, with absorbers and colliders. d9fan gave a great tip, maximize first gravity manipulator early; I did somewhere in wave 18, with 5 to both gravity+stability. Shockwave+Implosion needed. Above abilities essential for certain enemies. Strongly advise ONLY purple ball, only projectile I needed (1 point in projectile, low-energy, fast, damage). Towers unnecessary, but help (recommend only shockwave). KILL 95% of everything in early levels, KILL much as you can. AIM at weak explosive things, AVOID exploding things behind something. SAVE BEFORE SKILLPOINTS USED; must know what you are facing. AVOID using skillpoints until necessary. Don't forget that you can DAMAGE yourself from explosions+nukes. AVOID colliding 2 nuke-trucks, doubles explosion radius. Avoid EXPLODING things near you. AVOID singularity implosions early in game, get no exp. PERSEVERE, be lucky. Took me 3.5 hours, with 6 skillpoints left. Good luck.
It may have (multiple) bugs, lag, bad graphics, and little gameplay, but it's a start!
Since you're 13, you could have spent more time on your first game ever, but at least you're making a game. I encourage you to be ambitious, fail melodramatically, and learn from the process. Good luck, hopefully.
It needs changes. Even though I see only simple vectors, this game lags; considering the late time, it is abnormal. The ship seems to run too slow to get powerups; it may be intentional, but it is annoying. The bright colours do not put me in a bright mood when I'm frustrated with the gameplay. Full-screen doesn't work, but I appreciate the profiler. Now I know how much my computer sucks. Improvement would mean thinking about graphics and gameplay. Why should I play this game? Story, fun, quick (probably). But you still need to make your game unique, or make it good. I hope this helped ):
Great copy of Contra. Enjoyed finding this game, as I never played the original. Liked the pixel graphics, and responsive controls. Game-play seems simplistic; just shoot anything that shoots back at you. It is fun though. Still, minor issues.
Title music seems to stagger, as if I were playing the sounds quickly one after the other. Sometimes happened in the game too, especially on first stage. Some intense periods of lag at some points of the game, but not sure why. Probably my Internet connection, but still. It was only until the later stages that I learned that I could jump down. It was frustrating as I realized all of the deaths that could have been avoided learning this sooner. Maybe add it to the instructions, and explain shooting and ducking? You could add an option to change the controls, although it may disrupt flow of the game. Could also add a save feature, though again, that may disrupt the flow of the game. Still, deserves a 5/5. Just fix those minor issues (:
