Pretty good. Your theme is great - the retro LED crystal graphics and retro sound. However, shots should cross borders. And the fact that the ship doesn't drift puts things far too much into the advantage of the player. If you're going to tribute Asteroids, gotta have the ship drift.
Not too shabby... Decent graphics (nice scrolling backrounds), good use of sound...
At the same time it's nothing really exciting. To your credit though, you executed your concept and overall gameplay idea extremely well.
Good game and nice concept. However, after getting to yellow or red, I found myself sitting there for a full 3-4 seconds waiting for the right color balloon to be on screen at all. If you can better 'randomize' the balloons to ensure the player always has something to shoot, this would be a much better game.
The levels end very suddenly - no meter to indicate progress or anything, so it's kind of a shock for the game to suddenly stop, freeze for several seconds, and then resume. If you can alleviate this, it'll be a smoother experience for the player.
While this game has great intentions, it needs heavy polishing. All the events should have similar time limits. The donut / tower puzzle takes faaar too long, and that puzzle has been a favorite of mine since childhood.
Step back, think about what your goal for this game is, and retool it. That includes the background music - it's horrible after the 30th time.
Not too bad. Still being able to see the mouse cursor inside the paddle might help a bit in regards to keeping better control. My paddle was constantly getting flung from one side to the other, then getting a message that it wasn't below the line and so on...
Also, some sound effects would help. Even just simple beeps for when a ball drops past the paddle, or gets cleared. It would further the feeling of that you're competing for no mistakes.
Overall, not too shabby.
The game is ok... I mean c'mon - it's a Zuma / Luxor / good-God-it's-another-match-3 game. The fact that rolling over certain targets in the playfield is somewhat original... but not enough for me.
Some good points are that the graphics are good - the overall style vaudville / classic pinball table is strong and consistant. Sound is ok too - could use some background music. At the least some free loops could be combined to make a basic background track. It'd be better than the silence.
Also, a graphical glitch - upon a new game, if any balls were left in the playing field, some of them will 'ghost' into the next round. Basically, you can see them, but they aren't actual objects in the new game (no collision, or addition to the ball train).
This game is amazing. The visual style is both great and consistant throughout. Also, the sense of speed and fun while running through the levels is great! Another tip of the hat for the physics that you have - the way the character will either flip, or right himself depending on his speed, how far he's jumped off a wall, and so on.
Only complaint is that some of the enemies are totally blind - certain spots with spiders in level one come to mind. It's only minor though - if rolling was a little easier then it wouldn't be a problem. Then again, I could be totally off mark.
Regardless, great game!
This is a great game. I keep meaning to post a review on my site... Regardless, this is a fantastic shmup. I've yet to beat it, but that should change today.
Some of my favorite things about this game are the graphics and sound. Your visual style is both consistant and original. The same goes for your sound - music comes in at dramatic moments (asteroid fields, bosses) and the lack of music during 'generic' fighting contributes to a feeling of that you are in 'empty space' and away from larger space stations and whatnot. It's very well done.
