The stats on items need some work, some legendary items are a straight up downgrade from rares from the same zone, even when they have the same kind of stat (So it's not "this is useless just because it gives a stat you don't want") Apart from that it was enjoyable.
Okay, this game had a serious amount of fake difficulty making the last level REALLY difficult. But since I got the badge, I'd say not impossible.
Some tips: Read trashantboy's comment to know what to do with new obstacles without dying every time you find a new one. On the last level, though, you'll have also some riders following you: if they reach you they start spearing you every few seconds; it IS dodgeable by ducking, but makes the level litterally unbeatable... so you have to speed up your horse when one comes after you until you lost him. You can remain sped-up for the whole level but I suggest you slow down in-between to reduce errors. The problem comes here: some series of obstacles aren't avoidable if you're sped up. For me the really troublesome one was a branch or an hoplite right after a single frontal volley of arrows, so I learnt to slow down as soon as I heard the cue of such a volley. Hope I'll help someone. ^^
I liked this game overall, but some thing should be improved. Money and exp are completely useless once you get all the upgrades (missions too). "Veteran Ranks" which improve your team overall efficiency for exp, and expensive single use items for money might be a solution. Missions get done pretty slow, I had 23 done when I got all upgrades 35 when I got the hard badge, makes them seem to be there just for the sake of it.
Extra freed soldiers should replace badly wounded ones, or at least upgrade the "lesser armed" ones on my team. I'd also love to choose a battle formation, like personally I'd put granatiers in the center, shooters just a bit sideways and auto-aimed shooters on the far sides so that I can focus fire on a certain target easily, but I'm sure others would choose other formations for whatever reason so letting the player choose might be best.
As said, the group up idea is cool, too.
I'd say it should be easier to make money, or the upgrades should be cheaper.
I finished the game, 6 starts in every level even the big boss, and still had lots of upgrades to buy. I even kept playing, got all achievements, still not all upgrades to have fun. I kept replaying levels, still not enough money for all upgrades. The game became boring and made me gave up before I could see the mayem caused by having every upgrade out there... 4/5 for the rest of the fun.
But if you will get all upgrades before final boss, will you continue play? This game not needs to have all upgrades to be winner. But! with some strategy its easy enough to get them all :)
Easy way to get the hard badge: You'll need the hand glider, propelled beanie hat, 2 easy tricks (any will work, but I suggest Up-N-Out and Up-N-Out Flip), 3 groupies and the monkey still alive.
Jump, perform the two tricks followed by opening the hand glider (Keep holding up for the score to increase!), fast enough to get a x3 bonus. As long as you glide up and down fast avoiding bananas and bombs, the boss encounter will keep you in the air, letting you do incredibly high scores that will be multiplied by 3 too! Reach 6500 and land with your groupies alive, this will give you 6500*3*2,6 style=50k+ points ;-)
