the map has some stage: sky;, ground and underground.
and you have some "letters" in the map where u can chance the stage with your armee. :D
here an other idee: What about a worldmap. you starting somewhere on the world map with other AIs. you get an income for every area. each area is a map (like now). u can use your income to attack other areas and upgrade your armee. everyone starting with some areas (not all). the rest areas are neutral(defensive AI). when you won this mode. you get somethink to upgrade your item.
I definately like this idea sined.. i am going to try work out an idea based on this, though maybe altered a little and see if i can add a different playmode. Thanks! i will keep you informed

... or maybe you give the player a map, some expirients and money for the champs (other champs; not the champs who the player got from rewards before) and items. and the player have to success the map :)
what about a map without own champs? you give the players a map with enimys and with heros which you choose before. its like a challenge of the brainpower :D maybe u can combine this with my last comment
in my opinion, the ability of recruiting (wibey;legend) should be better. if you calculate that u have 2% to get a 50gold unit it should be the same to get every turn 1 gold.... but the ability of gold income (snizard;epic) cost less and give you the same or more gold

i think, when someone finish 4 or more star in a mystery lvl, he should able to skipe the 1star lvl from other mystery lvls. what do you think about it?
upgrade idee: maybe u can let the player choose with which start tower the player want to start the game.
he can choose one of x tower. one of them can have a big range, the other one much speed and the other one big att.... i dont know, its idee good or not good. but it is a option. :) (sorry for my bad english)
