There is actually a faster way of dealing with the Paladin than from Draxifiel's guide. It mostly envolves stuning him with Shatter Bolt twice, then dealing enough damage to him to the point where he will heal himself (around 970 to 900 hp). Then you just use Subversion on him and BAM! he's dead. Or he'll use Block, but either way he will die if he heals himself.
