I don't normally like this sort of game, but the graphics and music here work together excellently to set the mood. And it's always nice to be able to fight back. ;)
The gameplay is fun enough. However, the art is lacking in quantity, given that the art style is supposed to be a selling point. There ought to be more than one close-up of each character. John gritting his teeth at everything gets a bit absurd after a while.
You know, I was thinking, "I ought to do damage when I land on an enemy . . ." and lo and behold, there's a skill that does just that! Good job on coming up with a variety of perks like that.
Quite a nice-looking game, but it could use work. See: getting stuck, nystik's comment below, and the fact that I apparently can't use the crowbar before I try the stairs.
I dig the graphics and the sounds. I appreciate all the preview-at-a-glance capabilities. And I really like the complexity of the game mechanics and, at the same time, the straightforwardness of the gameplay. 5/5
