Absolutely loved it. I agree with what most people here have been saying: The shooter component was a little strange in places, but the story and characters are so vivid and well-written that it easily makes up for the little gameplay difficulties. I like the "Vote Ending" feature in principle, but I feel like certain characters get left in the lurch regardless of what "official" ending is chosen. Besides, the "No Wish" endings were the only ones which really felt complete for me, taking the whole cast into consideration. Certain character requirements are also more stringent than others, which seems to give a rather unfair advantage in voting.
Still, a one of the best games I've ever played. You can be sure I'd play a sequel, regardless of which ending becomes canon, though I'm going to place another informal vote for the Secret Ending. I think it leaves the most potential storytelling options open.
The frustrating thing is that this game has so much potential, but it's so brutally difficult that one can barely pass the first level. This game would be much more friendly, even if it eased us into the game slowly. Right now, I find myself up against a cloud of enemies, and I don't have the resources to hold them off. It takes far too long to destroy a single enemy, and when you do, you get a mere pittance in resources. I think the biggest problem is that repairs are hardly noticeable in comparison to the damage you're constantly taking from the barrage of fighters. Which is a shame, because if the difficulty were nerfed a bit, I'd probably love this game.
