No kidding. Today’s streaming event finally spoiled my last project that I’ve been so excited about. You’ll see it the moment you go to build your first house.

It sounds like instead of simply doing the search across the whole of the screen you are trying to narrow down the search location so the search takes less time. Considering most of the things you can search for stay in the same basic position relative to the upper-left corner of the Flash window I do all my searches using the exact position they should show up. The exception is the food items as they shift around on the bar. So instead I do my search covering the bottom bar but just that location. One trick I use is that I have a hotkey that just runs a simple test and sends it’s results in a MsgBox. I tend to put a full screen ImageSearch into it when first testing the image and then use the coordinates from the results to narrow the search down. It lets me be sure the image matches before I try to shorten the range. show less

I’m now spending more time in a text editor than a Flash window. Something has gone pear shaped.

Oct 19, 2012 10:27pm Sol, go read the forums. There is a bug. You have to disable the highlighting scripts to see chat. At least they fixed yours. I’m still dropping letters while I type all over the place…

Sep 22, 2012 2:50am Hey. I read your comment on Grinn’s tale about the “Refined” items. I was wondering, does it work if you use it once during the countdown or should you use it as it is about to end (timer reaches 2 mins or shorter)?

I’m not sure about this, but did one of the villagers say that rallying increases refined chances?

Not that I saw. I replayed the opening section again and I do not remember seeing anything like that. I also did not read the villagers notes that close.

Aug 8, 2012 11:14pm Anyway, the message I referenced earlier was about the camera in Flixel. I followed what you showed me, and I got my camera set up displaying those slots from off screen, however I couldn’t decipher your scrolling wizardry, so I’m stuck again.

I’ve got three variable I store to help with moving the thumb around and from the look of it one of them should be local. Basically, I wait for a mouseDown to happen and check to see if it was pressed over the thumb. If it was I change beingDragged to true and store the position, relative to the upper left corner of the thumb, that we clicked. We only need the Y value as we can only drag up/down. Next, during each update it checks to see if we are in the middle of dragging the thumb. It then works out where the Y position of the thumb would be using that previous offset. It then compares the Y position to the highest and lowest positions possible. It then checks to see if the new calculated spot is different from the current spot and only moves the camera if it is. To do this move we first find the percent scrolled down the thumb is found by taking (thumbPos – thumbMinPos) / (thumbMaxPos – thumbMinPos). It is not perfect as for some reason I never would get a 100% scroll using this. We then take that % value and multiply it against the total area we have to scroll over in the camera window section. This is the bottom of the viewable items minus the size of the camera window itself. The value we get from this leaves us the correct position to set the camera to, in pixels. The fact that I hard coded the numbers probably did not help but I saw no reason to make it work via generic values when simply getting it working. show less

Feb 17, 2012 5:24am Thanks for the lengthy review. I don’t know what’s going on with the frame rate you’ve been experiencing, I had designed for minimal lag and I guarantee the game runs easily at 60 FPS on my machine with time to spare.

Both times it was for a driving based thing. First time it was for that “Bugs that drink and drive” video and the second one is for the “Video game driver busted for no seatbelt”. Those are the only ones I’ve ever seen like that. They’re both ones that were showing up before games for a while then suddenly you could get Kong points. So maybe it’s because the K’s agree with the message or maybe the Transportation people paid extra. show less
