I feel like I should point out that investing in piercing is entirely pointless. From what I've seen, if you invest in Strength instead, you'll get more damage out of a regular attack than you would out of a critical attack if you invested in piercing, and piercing only works for a single type of attack. Plus, piercing sets make you extremely fragile, whereas strength sets typically come with vitality to spare.
