A great game, but also a strong example of excessive content. The first dungeon takes longer to complete than the entirety of Mardek 2, and you can't even leave it until you've finished the quest line. You could play for a whole day without even seeing the map screen.
Great characters, intriguing story, and logical puzzles that are obvious in hindsight. The choices are limited (especially the door room one, where there is only one option the game accepts), but the chapter select feature makes up for that by letting us compare the effects of each path. I think my favorite feature is the clue system, which is both an effective way of nudging the player and gives them a chance to interact with the other characters outside of the story. I can't wait for the next chapter.
Fun, but extremely glitchy. A lot of the time, the challenges fail to register progress. For instance, despite taking out at least 10 ducks in my last run, I have hit 0 out of the 25 ducks needed to complete the next challenge.
I'd like to say that's just a minor thing, but honestly, when my progress is being stopped dead by bugs, it's kind of hard to look past that.
A fun and entertaining game. Short enough to be beaten in an hour or two of play, but I don't see that as a bad thing. If anything, it's refreshing to see an upgrade game that can be beaten in one go.
It is actually impossible to beat the shadow creature even with everything near max unless you've gotten the other skills because of the beam attack. I, for one, was extremely disappointed by this.
