My favorite team is a lvl 7 zombie supported by two dogs: Just build up your zombie horde and regen all the damage back. I even found a nice +15% healing item to back it up.
The secret to winning quickly is ignoring the enemies and repairing your helicopter. After getting dual pistols and maybe the first hat or second hat you can just buy soldiers to fight for you while you repair, making shooting /collecting runs before your waves of coins disappear. Buy enough aim so you're not missing, raise reload to a reasonable level, then put everything in power and run speed. The only later weapons I bought with this strategy were one shot gun, one shredder, and one yellow helm.
One problem I had was that I'd keep auto using self defense on the shambling mook in front of me, preventing me from moving or killing the shotgun/machine gun zombies that were actually hurting me. Maybe an option to restrict self defence from activating while I'm trying to shoot?
To everyone that doesn't know, the 500$ item multiplies the gold from a single fight by 1000%. It's well worth the cost and should be bought even if you have to replace an item.
lol @jhichop. Regeneration 2 is among the best abilities in the game, combined with silence and regen 1 you're nigh unkillable. Add a shield, blast shield, or cripple the enemy and you might as well have activated god mode.
It's true I never had to repeat battles after the update. By the time I finished the tournaments I outleveled the second last island so heavily I couldn't even collect the bosses' souls, and fights were over in a few turns no matter what I faced. The problem is that you can buff yourself to have infinite health and keep the enemy eternally silenced. I couldn't lose no matter what I faced, so the "ultimate" tournament was a cakewalk. The skills need better balancing so play is strategic instead of repetitive.
I beat the king on the first season, but got a lower rating than if I had lost a league match. Not getting many wins/fame/unique characters seems to hurt your score more than winning early, which is kind of weird.
