Wow, survival mode is buggy as hell. I was thinking about rating this game a four, but with survival mode being utterly unplayable I guess a two will have to suffice.
"Red shapes are bad" - I feel highly offended by this depreciatory statement relying heavily on stereotypes and I'm sure any red shapes playing this game would agree with me.
The idea is great and the game is quite fun. But I hate the "Homers" and "Gunners", being nothing but irritating and combo-breaking. The worst design choice, however, is the absence of a mute button; for let's be honest: There has never been a flash game with good music and this one is no exception.
So, it's like Fishy, but way worse. The collision detection is beneath contempt, even for a flash game. And it's so slow your run a higher risk of dying from pure boredom than from getting eaten by at bigger dog. I'll rate it a 2, but only because I'm saving the 1 for the abominations some people here apparently consider games.
It's a little disappointing that there are no puzzles bigger than 15x15; in my opinion, 20x20 is the absolute minimum for a really good picross puzzle.
Okay, this game is slightly flawed, and by "slightly flawed" I mean "so seriously flawed that the developers shouldn't even have thought about releasing it". I'll have to admit that I actually tried to develop tactics for this game, until I realised that it's possible to beat every single battle in the entire game simply by keeping space held down; releasing wave upon wave of spearmen in the exact same spot.
So I did. And I got the badge. And a text stating that "After years of fighting, the mountain trolls conquered the land, bringing with them an endless winter which lasted for many years.".
An endless winter lasting for many years? You've got to be kidding me.
Okay, so I've played through the entire game and I can't help but to wonder if the creator was too lazy to do the same thing. Or did he simply manage to miss the obvious fact that this game simply is boring. Having to gun through hundreds upon hundreds of the exact same enemies in 28 levels, each one looking more or less like the one before, is not entertaining gameplay. It's dull. And repetitive. And simply bad.
The graphical style is kind of neat, though. But that's not nearly enough to make up for all the boredom.
Well, the game itself is best described as unpolished. Sometimes arrows get delayed and, more often than not, the audio and the graphics goes out of sync after a while. But it's very addictive, even though you're better off playing with your speakers turned off.
Though the main idea is kind of nice (for a defense game), it feels like it should have been tested more before release. Perhaps then, the developer would have realised how frustrating a lot the design decisions are.
I'm sorry, but this game is terrible. Though the platform racing-concept is good and can be truly enjoyable (Sonic 3, Jazz Jackrabbit 2...) this game is too random, too glitchy and too outright annoying to be worth the time.
I must admit that enjoy this game. Pure trial and error, putting traps at the exact spots where you're safe in most platformers. So incredibly annoying, yet entertaining.
Shouldn't the controls be the most important part of a precision-based game? Then why are they so incredibly unresponsive?
Playing through this mess simply to get the badges makes me feel like a prostitute.
