Sry for taking so long to get back to u on my problem. the way that i made the health meter was by creating a empty rectangle and turning it into a mc. i named that mc healthBorder. Then i whent inside that mc and created another mc out of a solid green rectangle with no border. i named that mc greenHealthBar. after i did this i entered the folowing code into the ship class. function updateHealth(points)
{
health += points;
root.healthBorder.greenHealthBar.xscale = health;
}

function resetHealth()
{
health = 100;
root.healthBorder.greenHealthBar.xscale = 100;
}

the health bar does not move or anything when these methods are called.

sry for bothering u but i was wondering if u could help me. i noticed that you had created the health meter for yourself in the shootorial and was wondering if you could give any more details about the process. i have only created the inner movie clip for the three sections but do not know what to do to get the midsection of the health meter to be adjusted in size. again sry for bothering you and thnxs for any help u can give.
