Game was broken for the week, integrating WebGL functionality, hence the low plays and bad rating. Been fixed since first of the year, maybe you can help me get more plays and a higher rating, before I upload it to Steam and remove it from Kong. Thanks! :)
I have started a GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/help-put-starcruiser-on-steam-my-dream-job&rcid=r01-155822736521-2cd181c779d84eee&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_w to get this game up on Steam for sale, once money is rolling I plan to hire a small team to get a multiplayer mode up and running, then take it to the next level, a full sandbox MMO, simple and no pay-to-win! ;)
ESC function has been worked around, using the fullscreen exit to trigger pause. Added the Kong-loader which removed scroll bars, and I found a line of Java to place in the HTML file which sets focus on the Unity element (on first click) allowing the keys to control the game rather than the browser. Also smashed a few bugs created by fixing deprecated code while tired. Enjoy!
This is my first WebGL build, the integrated full screen function is nice, however it hampers my esc key function; press P before ESC to unlock the mouse, and/or press P to regain mouse control of the game if needed.
Greetings! Wow, I had not checked here in some time, they play-count on this game has DOUBLED since I last looked... guess people want my CAR game more than my SPACE-shooter game, which has been finished for over a year lol. Oh, FUTURECAR2 will be here soon, as stated below, my old HDD bombed, had to take FC from an old backup (3 months of lost work!) and it's now in Unity 5 running great at 400 FPS physics rate, beautiful 3D tracks (banking, elevation changes) and background graphics, even an AI car to race with, and he's good, let me tell ya, lol. Stay Tuned! >)
Howdy all! I just uploaded new version of Starcruiser, after having to start over from an old back-up. The laptop which had the old version on it spit out its hard drive, so I lost quite a bit of work on this, but now it's better than ever. Enjoy! :)
Nice work guys! 200k plays in 11 days, wow! I may have seen you at the Unity conference in San Francisco in 2007, check out my game http://www.kongregate.com/games/Starcruiser81/starcruiser and share with your friends :D
Over 4 years of off-and-on work has went into this game. Everything was done by me, music, sounds, graphics, programming, etc. Hope you enjoy my pride and joy!
Nice job! I was lmao when I got earth-level 10 in 1 try :D I'm a Unity developer, check out my games. This is an interesting concept, I am visualizing this in 3D ... :O
Thanks for the comments, I am working on a few things and tweaking settings, will be uploading an update very soon.
Also, be on the lookout for my #1 project, Starcruiser, an arcade style 3D space shooter! Featuring 5 modes of play, ranging from asteroids and laser platforms to defending your starbase from waves of attack from alien forces!
STARCRUISER is LIVE! http://www.kongregate.com/games/Starcruiser81/starcruiser
UPDATES: *July 31, 2012 - Previous version had ONLY the car in RWD config, front engine (center of gravity). *August 30, 2012 - Added the Dragster! Doesn't fly too well, but oh well lol. *October 3, 2012 - Added sounds! The drive wheels and jets for now. It's interesting that I am hearing things that I could not see, like wheel speed during braking, accelerating, turning, etc. More tweaking and updates to come...
Over a year of part-time development has went into this game... The tricky part early on was the balance between high grip and slip conditions. At first the car stuck like glue, but it would not slide, after a tweak it would slide nicely, but it would want to slide always. Suspension was a key factor because the physics engine only works with solid objects, a real tire's tread will stay flat on the ground if the wheel is at a reasonable angle (camber). In the physics engine if the wheel is not perfectly flat on the ground then only the inside/outside edge is contacting the ground. So I set the collision overlap value very low, tested and tweaked until I found good grip, then raised the overlap back to a normal level. Increasing it further would add more grip, but would also destroy the handling because the car would grip too well and try to flip, and not slide or drift.
Fixed. Please delete this version of the game so I can re-upload and return it to the Recently Added games. Thank you.
