So I was going to give this game 5 stars, but I have to go with 4 instead. The round enemies that move in a random pattern make the game into a frustrating game of chance instead of an intuitive puzzle experience. When you've figured out a solution to the puzzle presented, but still have to spend twenty minutes getting through it just because of bad luck, then it's no longer fun.
While the game isn't really what it's advertised to be, I enjoyed how well balanced it is for the most part. I was thinking, "I kind of wish this game was a bit more difficult" at around level 5 and lo and behold, it became more difficult. I thought the ending boss fight was too simplistic and more than a little lack-luster, though. 4/5
Efreeti, the game is supposed to be difficult as a tribute to the old-style games of the 80s and 90s. For people who have never played a game like Kid Icarus or Megaman, this game will seem impossible. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it isn't poorly made either. I really don't see why people are having trouble with the controls, honestly. In many old school Nintendo games "up" was used to climb ladders and was hardly ever used as a jump button.
Everyone bitching about the controls and the lives system have clearly never played old school Nintendo or Atari games. Try playing Kid Icarus or the original Pitfall for several hours and this game will seem like a piece of cake. I never once had any trouble with the ladder or jumping system in this game and I've beaten it twice now on the two harder difficulties. (my grades have sucked, though lol)
Fantastic game! I just beat this chapter on Intermediate. Now to try for Expert! You get a 5/5 from me! People who rate this low because it's "too hard" or "too laggy" need to stop rating games based on their lack of skill or their crappy old computer or their slow internet connection.
So you guys realize that this game was made by Sun-Studios, the same people that made Armed With Wings, right? That's probably why it looks similar. Also, turning down the quality does wonders for the game's speed if you think it's too slow.
Haho,
Being jilted by a random number generator has nothing to do with skill. Yes it makes the game more challenging, but that doesn't mean that people who rate it low are bad at the game, just that they were unlucky and prefer playing games that are fair. =b
People who are having trouble with acorn collection, go through the game just concentrating on the "Swaintastic" achievement first. then go back to levels like 2-2 and kill the little bastards to get the acorns you may have missed. It avoids the retarded "wall jump" mechanic that seems to never work on that stage. I got through the game with all achievements in about an hour.
I didn't have any trouble with getting the pieces I need, but the placement guidelines are a bit strange. If the pieces were the same size as they are on the actual robot, though I think it would remove that problem. However, the game is still really slow and not much more than a jigsaw game. The conveyor mechanic doesn't really add anything to the jigsaw gameplay either. 2/5
