I think it's a worthwhile experiment and an interesting way to tell a story. However, I wouldn't call it a game. I also found the ending a little disappointing in that there wasn't even a single scene of what happened. I found the end result frustratingly vague.
I like what I've seen and think it's a good start, though I think it has a little ways to go yet. Reminds me a bit of STALKER, traversing the wilderness between towns, gunning down mutants and scavenging the corpses. A few points of criticism: sniper rifle seems too powerful. There are a few possible ways to fix this, I would be give it a dedicated ammo (instead of sharing with the pistol) because bullet drops seem tooled for pistols, since the sniper rifle one-shots everything it ends up with a surplus of on average something like gaining 4 bullets per encounter. (Dedicated sniper ammo I would make drop less often and in smaller quantities.) Another issue was that while I got a sense of progression from the game, starting area -> first town -> walled town, there doesn't seem to be any sort of story linking them together , there's no reason other than sidequests to move through the towns. I like the presence of the sidequests but I hope there would be a main quest line as well.
I really want to like this game. I love the premise, you're a giant worm looking for food, I like them mechanics, I love the upgrade system being a series of choices between two things, and for the most part liked the upgrades you could get. However, it's going to need a re-balance of some sort before I could call it good: after getting the bloody fangs (bigger mouth in rampage) and metal eating teeth, the game got too easy. I breezed through to survival mode where I built up a 2000x combo by flying in a straight line before I got bored.
I would have given a rating of only three (solid gameplay but far too frustrating at parts. As in, difficult but more annoying that rewarding), but there's this theme of 'The moral path versus the easy one', that in my opinion is mechanically is one of the best representations of morality in games that I've seen yet.
So four stars, well done.
I give this game a 3/5. On one hand, I respect that this is a demonstration of the valid frustration at many people's simplistic and unreasonable judgments. On the other hand the game(s) itself were primitive and mildly frustrating to control, although the point was the commentary not the actual game so that's a very minor issue.
Fantastic! I loved it!
This is one of my favorite styles of games, and this is well executed. Fluid movement, simple and intuitive (if a bit unimaginative) powerups, crazy yet likable characters, it gets a lot right.
Only two complaints: I don't like double tapping as a way to activate abilities. Plenty of times I've boosted to my death while trying to adjust my position. Then I don't like the lack of checkpoints, though that's minor.
I like the concept but I find gameplay incredibly frustrating. Specifically, the main gun could barely hit the broadside of a barn. Not bad, but I think it still needs some tweaking.
Seems well made, and has a lot of potential but I think it really doesn't suit infinite defense that well. It would be nice if there was a bit more of an objective.
I like it, but I think it needs some work.
The shooter part is interesting, but not particularly well used. The player is little more than a mobile turret. What if you gave the player a health bar, then had some enemies attack him instead of the portal?
There's also a bunch of minor things: it needs a next wave button, and one time the flying guys left the playing area before reaching the portal. I couldn't shoot them, and so had to restart.
Well it's certainly creative. I liked the design, the controls (for the most part). It wasn't very challenging, but took enough though to keep one engaged... The biggest negative, I think, is the general confusion factor. The player is just kinda dropped into the game with little more than a basic explanation of the controls. That and the music got annoying after a short time...woulda been nice if the different planets had different music. Aside from those two things though, I liked it.
Not bad...it has a lot of potential. However, I agree with other people that it needs more. Some combination of weapons, upgrade selection and perhaps multiplayer.
