I would have given this game a perfect score. However, It has 2 major flaws. First the big difficulty spike on a level 3 mission (Highway Robbery) and a mechanic that shouldn't exist in this game. On the mission, The first level all of the goblins have cards to make your mage useless, The second level has a enemy that can 2 hit kill any member of your party, and the third level the same thing except that enemy gets a pocket healer. As for the mechanic, It is absurd that enemies can share and use all the same cards if they are in the same unit. I can understand that this game is suppose to be a challenge, But not borderline Dark Souls difficulty. I can also understand if the devs are trying to make the game fast pace, But i am sure we can all stand an extra minute or two going through each enemies inventory without being BSed from a fight because 3 different enemies are sharing the same armor card. I can understand movement cards being shared, but all other cards just no.
Hey, what you're seeing as a big difficulty spike is actually the game trying to teach you to drastically change your equipment between levels. The loadouts that make one adventure easy will make life hard in another. Against goblins, your wizard's zaps are suddenly bad, yes—but that doesn't mean all wizard cards are useless. Sparks become more valuable because they're more likely to get through blocks, as do bashes and terrain cards (which ignore blocks completely). If armor is giving you trouble, equip Armorbane Pendants or other items that give Dissolve Armor or acid. Against the Goblin Hulk, you can always equip force bolts and blasts, which if played at the right time will let you kite it indefinitely. If you're having trouble with an early adventure, it is likely that you just need to reexamine your gear and consider what else you could be doing. There's a lot of great advice on the Card Hunter forums for specific adventures. Good luck!
On the plus side, For a game that was released back in 2012, Why the hell didn't the developer take his time to fix this game? Devs that don't listen to their community shouldn't be devs at all.
This game is total BS. Not only do saves not work, But it is heavily reliant on RNG. I got into a match with a guy with no armor, and a dagger while i had a sword, shield and a peasant shirt with 200 health while my opponent only had 60 and i still lost. Don't waste your time with this game.
Somebody tell me how to stop these tears. It was definitely a masterfully crafted game. Even though the story was short, It still made me feel happy. Most RPGs you feel like you have no involvement and that your choices don't really matter, But this game made me feel something for the nameless characters. It made me feel like that even though all i did was just talk to them on a daily basis that it was advancing how the characters felt about the nameless adventurer. I hope that this game gets a sequel. What especially made me feel in this game was the fact that the nameless adventurer seemed like he was getting tired of life and that nothing thrilling would happen. Then suddenly the alchemist comes along and he finally has someone to talk too. Then you help the smith and now it's like having a little family, Making the adventurer happy to return home. I also was happy to return home every time so i could see the next event that happened. Thank you Raius for a wonderful game.
