conceptually, the game is awesome. I will however have to give it a 4/5 because of the problem with the background, as has been pointed out by many others before me. The disturbance in the background(blurry B&W lines) continually increases until even people with 20/20 vision feel colour blind >.< it's not about difficulty, it's about plain annoying, and uncomfortable. My eyes seriously hurt after playing it till just past the "wheel" level, and I'm not playing this any further for the sake of my eyes. Improve on that and I think this game should get a 4.5/5(yes I know kong doesn't allow .5s, but it should!!)
hey one question....(a little spoiler ahead) in the ending, I can understand it being so for the male character, but why does the female character seem topless as well? :P
I still can't believe a capital 'S', an apostrophe and an exclamation mark costs $4500.....
great job on the game, although it'd be nice to control which "level" of the all the graphics upgrades is in effect and which is not, it'll allow every player to select what level of "retro" they want to play the game in :D + this, and repeat this to make the request heard!!!!
Lovely graphics, a tad bit simple but really clever, smooth and very well made ;) although, thanks to the circles indicating the only operable objects in the game, it felt less like a game and more like a visual novel, or a short story, but it was still enjoyable :)
Fantabulous game! Really well made-the graphics, the music, the gameplay; everything is too damned awesome. Although there is some room for improvement as far as the AI and the weapons/upgrade system, the game is very VERY fun to play. The simple circle and hit strategy starts to fail when the blade-bots start rolling, and once the bipeds and tanks come into the picture, unless you realize those few movement patterns that do work, the game is next to impossible to finish. A change of background would really be appreciated. What I would really like to know is who deserves the credit for the absolutely smooth frame rate-the programmer or the Unity webplayer. Since unity webplayer is quite new, I must use my experience of flash games to judge this, and it is simply astounding to notice how such excellent graphics and smooth frame rate are maintained with such a fast paced and busy game (200 enemy drones at once!). A clear 5/5 from me :D keep it up!!!
Certain skills are rather useless, for example, Sorgal's Scourge of Malice would be a lot more practical if "spectral" damage did not mean that EVERY enemy with ANY resistance suffers less than the expected damage to it! The Kitsunes are excellently designed, but the sheer ineffectiveness of the ice type attacks, especially when compared to their respective fire counterparts, makes half their skill tree to be nothing more than an ornament.
The two slot limit on skills is indeed a great aspect of the challenge of the game, forcing the player into thinking up effective strategies and maximizing the output. However, once the kitsunes are able to use the meteor and fire storm spells, coupled with the kings' spiritual healing and Sorgal's Warcry and speed buff, what remains of strategy is to just sit around and change to an ice type attack whenever an enemy immune/highly resistant to fire comes around. I think balancing out the ice attacks will help overcome this block.
This is one of the best games I have played so far. Definitely 9/10. Yes, it has it's flaws and has room for improvement, but the concept, it's implementation and presentation are simply superb. This is not a TD game with elements of a RPG in it. It is a RPG with a solid fantasy-epic based storyline and a TD style battle system. The extremely flexible skill system allows the player to freely choose his playing style, create and adopt strategies to the situation, and of course, the variable immunities and resistances of the enemies(especially in the hell campaign and eternal damnation battles) ensures that the player cannot just station his units cleverly and go off for a coffee break. Like any other RPG, some grinding is required, but the game COULD have used a little more length, maybe 2 or 3 more stages? The character of sammine is missing from the story, maybe she was added because 6 heroes felt like too little for the game? [Review Continued in the next Comment]
