Yo, Nerdook- one bit of advice:
This is a pretty good game, but the problem is that the different families don't really have different sets of AI. I mean, I created a really cool setup- 2 dogs, one shooter that trounced everything. The dogs would sit back and bathe in a pool of mutual regeneration while the shooter would take out any threats approaching. It ended up working brilliantly, but I know those silly dogs are just going to charge off once they've become AI animals.
Okay, I've got one complaint: I've got this cat, and I've set him up to be an awesome killer of shooters and backline defenders. Problem is, at the end, he's pretty beat up so I have him go hide behind my bruiser. But he has like, 15 turns to skip between anyone else's action- it gets kinda annoying.
Okay, several problems with this game. First, it's just plain boring. There's not a lot you can do. Your hero can move back and forth, and your units can move back and forth. Tactics seem to consist of letting your hero sit up front while your units pool up, retreating him a little, and letting the little guys do some more of the work. Strategy games should require thinking. I can play Progress Quest for mind numbing sessions of leveling up.
Second, it's mind numbingly easy, at least at the beginning. I just hit "assault", scrolled to another window, and let the game play itself. Problem is, I couldn't find a mute button anywhere, which means I can't play my own music or another game while I wait for the game to grind itself.
Nice graphics- but it would be nice if there was a decent concept of gameplay backing them up.
This is one of the best made games that I have played in quite a while, up until about level 20. After that, I'm already so strong that the game no longer presents a challenge for me.
If you hover over the colored weapons and creatures, it tells you their color. I added that in to aid in color blindness.
