Protip that Tumalu didn't mentioned : when he's firing his lazor from the top, you can hit him while he's going bottom if you stay behind him, and so when he's firing the lazor from bottom, you're still behind him because you pushed him back and you can hit him several times. (PS: He seems to uses the rotating beard when you dealt him a certain amout of damages)
