Glitch: Fortify got my HP up to inifinity. When the enemies tiered up, the enemies couldn't kill me. The small enemies still seemed to be dying, presumably to vaporize and serious shot. If it matters, I had a T1 blueprint at the time.
Strategy that beat every single level:
in leftmost and right most columns, place an attack boost, two piercing shots, then 2 more attack boosts. then in the middle, alternate between slow blocks and blank slots. use eye blocks in the blank slots if needed for ghosts. To start off the game, place a damage boost/pierce in the rightmost corner, and a slow in the leftmost. Once you can, replace the slow block with a damage amp/pierce. then build the second pierce on each side, top each side with 2 damage amps, and build the third slow. Then just whack stuff with your sword until you win. Will require some maintenance on survival due to cheese, but that strategy easily got a perfect score on every level for me.
My only complaint is that the game seems to get easier as I go on. Once Selene hits level 10, with her as the team leader it gets ridiculous. Selene, Ray, and Erica work great together once they are upgraded, and with Bloodlust you can literally spam the special as fast as you can click at parts of the game. The more enemies there are on the screen, it actually gets easier, because you charge your special faster.
The biggest problem is how slow upgrades are. It takes way too long to earn them. It feels way too grindy. It's not even a matter of skill, I just don't have the time to unlock the weapons one by one by getting exorbitant amounts of kills with hard to use weapons. Fix that, and my rating will go up at least 1 star.
As expected of duck life, this was a fun night of no sleep. However, there were some issues. The climbing and especially the jumping stat, and to a small extent the flying, were hard to level up. the reward to challenge ratio of the minigames wasn't high enough, and it slowed down the pace of the game too much. Additionally, some of my stats are going over 150, not sure if this is supposed to happen or not. And in the first level of the tournament for mountain, the duck gets stuck if you run it at 150 flying, and he can't even complete the level.
Woot! Max score is 439250. First playthrough unlocked nightmare difficulty. Second playthrough got that score. The key is fighting the daimyo as soon as you can kill him. I upgraded the samurai the most, and then the tank guy. Grabbed reduced sword damage, +damage to daimyos, regen on kill, attack multiple enemies, and 5% dodge as my permanent buffs. The first one ig rabbed was killing multiple enemies in one swing, that helps a ton. I only used energy to revive allies and throw daggers. Hope that helps other people.
Also, I forgot to mention earlier. Say my population is at 9, and my cap is 10. If i press summon giant skeleton it will consume the mana, but i won't get the skeleton. This should be fixed.
It seems like it's missing features. Like the ability to see allied/enemy health bars. And it's so short. And the lack of real cutscenes besides an intro. There isn't even a win screen. That would be nice. Otherwise it's just like "Oh, that's it?" And the game can easily be beat entirely using summons,. Just stack command and max energy and summon tons of giant skeletons and liches, let the gians skeletons guard one side while you sit on the other holding down attack and let the lich swarm kill stuff. While it's a good game overall, it won't get a 4/5 or 5/5 from me until it feels more complete.
the one guy disappears after facing bottom? fix that. and make something happen when you win. add instructions and a menu. how do you win? perhaps music would be nice too.
Way too easy. Great idea though. Add in more challenge and its 5/5, for now 4/5. Build 1 of best pill box in the middle, trenches along the sides, a couple cannons, snipers in pill box, bazooka/assault on the sides, upgrade front line defense, then spam the best tank you have in every late level.
