It's actually pretty fun once you get a solid strategy down.
I am stuck on a campaign level though. All of the stars are captured, but the level isn't ending.
8whi9925's got the right strategy. Build wide at the base, and slowly move in as the sway becomes bad. Put more weight in the center and the sway will decrease.
I disagree with the "luck" factor. While every game does require some luck, I could never have beaten 600 the first time, and there is a little timing involved when it does get swaying.
