The question mark tool tips are the "easiest" info to teach you what to do. The basic gist is you attack whatever monster you click (and they attack you) but with the addendum that any monster that has a red symbol also gets to attack you (and there are some magical effects from monsters later in the game that will also affect the battle). So the basic goal is to kill any monster that is red, and use your thrown weaponry/spells to maintain stun effects on all the other monsters to prevent too many from attacking you at once.
I really liked the game, kind of didn't really get the value of the crossbowmen much, especially as the ranger skill tree was unlocked as more shots = better results usually. I kind of wasn't the biggest fan of the Necromancer either though, but it was simply because I liked the better range. Huge fan of all the trap/mines things - I loved building my little fortress o' doom and then allowing an enemy wave to hit it.
I was having fun till Level 14...got the magnet attached (which was already kind of an annoying physics juggle) and it still kept being buggy and unable to pull out the candy. Got annoying to the point I stopped having any fun and actually ragequit a relaxing puzzle game.
Solid amount of strategy to it, but still really simple and a fun game that doesn't require a lot of grinding, and all the powers are pretty useful and even have certain boards thy are better or worse on. The wizard guy gets surprisingly powerful once tricked out, he started to almost solo boards for me.
Finally knocked out all the badges for this one. If there is a better combo than Vamps and Black Dragon I have not found it. Oddly, I found the last two trials easier than some of the ones prior (Colossus and the Power Goblin Tank being the hardest to my mind) The Wolf one was actually won by brawling with my Skull Knight hero versus it (just spamed self heal and the wolf never came close to dealing with me) And the final Amazon was actually almost too easy, possibly the easiest of the mega challenges. I built up a fort and sat there killing her while she tried to chop through Vamps and Goblins. Pretty fun game, visually amazing though.
I actually played through this three times - rather surprising considering what it is, but it's full of really amusing animations and a few bemusing easter eggs.
