I gave it a 5/5 because of the story. It reminded me of so many movies that had made me fall in love with pure, unadulterated fireside storytelling. Well done.
Man, brutal twist to the end. It was not unexpected, and yet... fantastic piece of writing went into this game. Left me teary-eyed. My hats off to you.
To find a game that reminds me of the good old days of Gods by Bitmap Brothers is a rare gem indeed. Thank you good sir. Continue what you do and make us proud. I look forward to the next incarnation of mayhem! 5/5
Beautifully done piece of work! I like the craft concept and the weapons are fairly well balanced as far as I can see. The advantage of the game is that it is not too unnaturally balanced to the point where it becomes critical for you to upgrade equipment in order to proceed. Personally, I have no issue with the discovery of secrets. It's intended to be a secret anyways! However, I would agree that the dynamite tossing takes some getting used to. Perhaps an upgrade that helps guide the arc of tossing?
Would very much like to see a sequel to this La Mulana inspired offering. Good job. 5/5 for bringing me back to the good old days :)
I really wish that there was a sandbox version of this game. It's very lovely. I liked it very much. Looking forward to seeing a sequel to this. Good job duerig!
What a fantastic plot twist! I simply loved the game and the retro feel. Thank you very much Photonstorm for bringing us back to a time when entertainment was innocent and pure. Looking forward to more games from you! Kudos on the music as well! I'm upping this to a 5 now.
There is a problem with the game if you pause it and navigate out of the box. You won't be able to come back in without being redirected to an external site. -2 points.
Pseudolonewolf, I thought it was a difficult thing for you topping the standards you have set for yourself with Mardek I and II. I thought wrong. Clearly what you have on hand is a winner that is single-handedly responsible for the destruction of a great many productive hours belonging to a growing army of fans. Big game publishers these days should take a leaf out of your notebook. The point to a game is that it should first and foremost, beyond all other considerations, ENTERTAIN. Failing to do that, means that the game is just a poorly designed one. Even as I type this comment, I'm anxiously waiting for the game to load up on screen; something that I have not felt or done in ages since I was a kid. It would appear that your sacrificed design hours were not in vain. In a nutshell? Well done.
It's a really lovely game and well thought out too, but I would like to point out some game hanging bugs. I was using the gravity jump and somehow got wedged between the spikes and the spring and it just got me hung in that position without being able to reset.
Hmmm hey MegaDev, you've got a winner on your hands, though I must admit that some thought needs to be put into avoiding a Catch 22 situation with the money. I ended the game with 26,000 gold pieces and naturally spent it on buying up the 25k armor. That leaves me with just 1k. However, I forgot about the entry fee for the endless dungeon and spent one night at the inn and this practically leaves me screwed with no way of earning more money to enter the dungeon!
Sorry mate, but your infinity loop boss bug is still there. I'm looping back to the same fight even after winning it again and again. After 6 rounds of doing this, I have no choice but to downgrade this to a 2/5.
I like it good enough to give it a 3/5. After all, I'm a sucker for all of these brick-breaking games, but spikep's right. The mute and pause need to be there very badly.
