This reminds me greatly of another game (sadly gone) called Warstorm/Planetstorm--and is indeed credited as inspiration in the background. All forms of currency can be earned in-game, and the devs are constantly working on it with open feedback. The initial load is quite long, and may seem to not load on slower connections, but succeeding loads are quick and easy. Great game and story, no indication of typos as far as I see the campaign, and it is simple for casual play. Ranks at the top with the best CCG on Kongregate is what I can say. :)
Yes, I was the lead designer and exec producer for Warstorm. I wanted to bring it back to life after Zynga killed it, so this is pretty much the 'spiritual successor' to it (sadly I don't own the IP). Glad you're having fun!
I was expecting to play chess. This is not what I expected, and yet...as satisfying as chess. 5/5 Very nice fundamentals. Would wish the game would recognize 'he' and 'she' for the players. So it's not only 'His king'.. It's great to see generic chess pieces victorious over these...evolved versions--doesn't leave me feeling lacking. History knows its balance.
10 days in order to do this? That's very creative and a good use of art and plot! The music is calming and soothing, and despite there being a limited deck, there's a surprising variety coming from one's own choice in handling it for the long run. Great work here dev! (And I personally like that you didn't use the female protagonist as anything else other than a protagonist! {I'm talking about how our chests are being promoted in many games lately -.-})
Any plans for female hairstyles? :P Not that I'd mind--the game is great as it is (musical score, design, concept), but "create your soul" here is like a personal character: Diversity please? :)
Yes of course, I really look forwards to have female playable character and more cool female character in general, but I hadn't the proper graphic assets to make that happen here (I've been recycling Kuho's arts!)
An option to mute the music separate from the sound would be a great addition--some of us can't stand the guitar music, yet still may want the sound effects. :/
...This game is amazing! However I'd like to suggest the idea of 'offline saving' if ever possible. For bad internet connections (which aren't fast either!), we have problems with the constant online-saving.
There is a Help Page and FAQ Page at the lower left portion of the screen (nearly out of the normal viewing screen) -- this is easily missed by MANY players! Those two links give a general overview of everything in game.
Up until now--when disconnections or otherwise occur during missions; all loot is forfeit, yet timers (and building lockdown) and limited-time books are still used, as well as bounty-kill counters being updated (+task checks and all). This would create disappointment when one disconnects after looting very rare or unique items. It would be great if the game would -save- such until the time of disconnection, at least.
I remember when I played a game -very- similar to this on the GBA. The nostalgia hits hard, as well as the fun. It's like playing that game again, but on a whiteboard! Awesome work here.
I've been playing this since it was released on gamesofhonor.com and this is like an extended and detailed version of Caravaneer--you'll see many 'easter eggs' from the previous game, and 700%+ of the world you once knew of Caravaneer. Along with the many plots, there still lies simplicity in the making. The hours invested into this will be worth it (along with its nice local save feature!)
I've heard that ships are highlighted when their skill is hovered on by the mouse--it doesn't appear to be this way though. Could that be done in the next update? For us newbies who have the Centaur/Areia whose skills /solely/ depend on reflecting damage, knowing which ship is which when...your backbone of your fleet is composed of such is a very needed reality. Though this is offset by the skills having their level and ships showing their level (so this can be fixed by tying up certain levels to certain skills), all this complexity is unneeded by the sheer simplicity of...matching skill to ship on the battle map. If we've a skill, we should at least know which ship it is connected to, by game mechanic.
Hi Tiruin, there is no feature that will highlight ships like that, but we do have a feature request to help identify ships.
If you hold down on an ability button, it will give you some more information though.
I dislike the current issue regarding disconnections in the latest update. Counting up the return time would hinder players trying to do Z-Bounties (especially if you disconnect within the first minute of a mission at higher levels, amounting to ~4h of return time with nothing to show). It feels unfair that many others are able to complete their Z-Bounties compared to those who disconnect and have to pay for that in failed bounties. The code could be edited a bit for that situation; just a minor comment here.
Tiny bug: The mouse-freecamera sometimes hangs(?) or freezes (in which the camera is stuck in third-person viewpoint) in which one cannot drag the screen with right click or zoom in properly. Unsure how to fix this.
I..err, have to note that despite the ability to customize your prisoner, there is no way to customize the gender. Could I ask there be an option for that? :)
Glitch noted(?): If any purchase of kreds-ships happen, and you happen to shift it back (via clicking the ship pre-spawn), it'll show that you have to unlock the ship again. :(
Highly rated game. The music blends very well with the scenarios and the playerbase is very friendly and welcoming. The art detail on the cards are also improving every update as well as the increase in variety. 5/5
