Finished everything in an hour and a half.
Beat it first with dagger before respecing to try other weapons. Dagger was rough early on, but manageable once I started getting better gear. Always a bit of a struggle though.
Then I switched to sword, which was easy mode with the knockback and high damage. Also you have enough reach to hit the boss without getting hit, if you're careful, which is crazy with the knockback.
Last came staff, which was also really easy with the long range and piercing. Between the magic and the staff projectiles everything dies too quickly to do much to you.
Damn Foresight skill, I just want Architecture & Roads and it won't stop teasing me: "The Avatar of Progress visits your scientists with glimpses of the future and they instantly grasp the concepts of Crossbows."
Small problem with these new research placeholders: the foresight skill is now granting the new researches, although none of them have done anything for me yet.
Teen Girl Squad went all the way: Heavy - 9, Rocket - 9, Samurai - 8, Tank - 8, Mammoth - 7. I kept a heavy and a rocket from early game, it was nice having solid defenders and anti-vehicle units on a short cooldown, although Rocket was only so-so on the last mission. I had a second Heavy and Rocket for quite a while, but ended up trading them in for the toughness of the Mammoth and the speed and power of the Samurai.
The way Elder Gornash uses beholders is just ridiculous. It took forever, but I finally won with a lot of good luck. A few early Dwarven Boons, a lot of Gold Mines, a couple Crystal/Iron Mines, an Ancient Mine, and an Endless Wealth (I used one every time he used his global). I ignored most of what he sent at me, opting instead to focus on resource gathering, only summoning a few units to fight off things that would drain my portal too fast, and I'd wait until they were right outside of my portal before doing so. Especially the beholders, so they wouldn't have much time to shoot at my guys. After killing a group of beholders, I had five new units queued, a hand full of summons, and about six cards left in my deck. I summoned like crazy, and used a Titan's Might for good measure. The minimap was still full of green dots when he lost.
On 60 I used Slow Time, Energy Homers and Laser Lock. Laser Lock and Energy Homers are for hitting the boss wherever he is while you're busy dodging things, the Homers do a good job against those worm enemies that he spawns too. Slow Time is just for whenever you need it.
I concentrated on spe/rep/agi and once I managed to get them up a bit the rest of the levels were easy. Snatch up all the empty cells as fast as possible and then take the rest out. By the end I had no str/def, but max agi/rep and almost max spe.
Heh, yeah, that's now fixed...well, it's fixed since the new patch is released :)
