Reminds me of politics. No matter how minor the threat, there will always be someone who advocates having other people die en masse in order to stop it. And on the rare occasions where they get their way, it usually doesn't even work.
I played this game before badges were added, and it was pretty difficult in places. When I played it again a bit later to get the badge, I found it to be stupidly easy. Apparently it just takes some getting used to.
Apparently there's a bug where if you get the victory money before Jane shows up with the monster rocket thing, you'll encounter yourself on the rocket.
Apparently, if you max out every stat (except endurance) you can reach 400m (and occasionally 500m) before any of your competitors even start moving, and on a track with a lot of obstacles your animal will jump over the 2nd and later ones long before reaching the ground, causing them to fly well above the goal line at the end of the race.
Sadly, most of the 3rd stage of the game was just jokes (example: snake + plane), random trivialities (do we really need so many recipes and drink mixes?), gross inaccuracies (absinthe is made of wormwood, not grass or anything metaphorically related to it), and what appears to be complete nonsense (fish + knowledge = octopus? WTF?)
Apparently the type of points you get from the ??? squares are random, and it's not possible to fully upgrade everything. Not that you need to. By the end of the game, the elephant is rather overpowered, and the boss is kind of a joke if you're experienced with playing video games in general.
Hmm... I beat the game and died at the same time, and it didn't give me the badge. I beat it again and it gave me the badge right away before the end sequence. Apparently a tie victory doesn't count. :-p
WTF? The game was easy up until the end, but then for no apparent reason everything started going super turbo to the point where I have no real chance to react to anything - even restarting on the lower levels it's now unplayable!
Apparently due to a bug, I ended up doing a level 11, which has the same intro as level 10, no cops, and infinite distance to cover (can't win). This is probably because the special level no longer exists.
Okay. This game is way too random, and the first stage is the hardest - only the 2nd-to-last even comes close to it, and the others are way easier. This is regardless of what difficulty mode you're playing on. That's never a sign of good game design.
I gave up going for the hard badge... it seems that you need to randomly hit a ton of good stuff after you run out of fuel on day 1 (which is very rare - good luck) and then you have to do exceptionally well on both days 2 and 3 after that... Should've been a medium badge and 5 days, that's far less random and way easier.
I had a lot of trouble getting the hang of going through those curves in the upper levels at a speed high enough to keep up with the other cars - until I figured out you can just knock some of them around early in the course and throw them off their game just enough to make it so that you have more time to take those curves slowly.
