The whole flamethrower rage is that the americans used flamethrowers mainly in the densly jungled and cramped pacific islands, were they were an excellent weapon in taking out hidden bunkers and halting enemy sucidal charges. However, they were rarely-if at all-used in Europe simply because they would not be of much use against an enemy that preffered medium range combat and had little use for camouflaged implacements, where the foliage would easily burn.
