iUseHax: Food/Water is required to increase your population. There is an amount of each you need for a new person to be added to your pop number, which is then subtracted from your 'store'. The amount of food/water required for a person increases as your village grows.
Kirthar: Are you running low resources mode? Player mode doesn't work with those settings.
When you load a game with your drones deployed, they start at a location different from your ship and subsequently travel towards you until they eventually orbit as normal. I suspect you have their initial position fixed at the origin of the local system, rather than synched with your ship.
Also, laser accuracy is too poor and/or missile too good. The benefits of auto-retargeting and 100% missile accuracy (and damage) so far outweigh that of lasers that there is no competition.
Absolutely amazing game - cannot give enough praise. This is without a doubt the best game I have played on Kongregate and my preferred choice despite having Hitman, Elder Scrolls, Risen 2, Dishonoured, Thief, and Age of Wonders 3 on my computer! The only thing better than this game is the support that you provide.
