I grew up with this series, and the way matt releases the full game before monetizing the extra content is actually really great. I fully encourage players to play on Epic Difficulty once you get used to the game on lower difficulties. It not only unlocks bonus areas sooner, but also brings out the full challenge of the game, requiring you to really get to learn it before you can overcome it.
Just some advice, The Destroyer's Magnification stat applies to you when challenging him, magnifying your stats by that much. Save your first try for near the end of a run, and also not that each new summon can work at 10% outside of a party.
