The Green/Red bar above different infantry units can be toggled if you click it. Green = they automatically send your units costing you money and population. Red = you have to manually click it to send it, but your money isn't being wasted if you don't want it to be and your population will continue to grow. i recently figured this out and thought it was EXTREMELY useful! hope it helps! =)
