Game is broken, You can't get bait from rabbits. I've been trying for the past 15 minutes. I looked through walkthrough to make sure I did everything right. The message after I completed trap does not appear when I talk to rabbits.

You will have to talk to the tree first about getting the bait. the tree will tell you about the bait, and then you will get the dialogue option. The point - you character did not know about the bait before talking to the tree!
