One the best puzzles in Kongregate. I missed the ability to fill squares clicking instead of dragging. My suggestion is to first select the color (clicking in a filled square or pressing a hotkey) and then click where you want to draw a straight line from the last square of that color to the clicked square. The color remains selected for the next click. To avoid invalid movements, the valid squares to click would be highlighted when you select a color, doing nothing if you click a non-highlighted square.
By the way, I finished the game with all different deities using my team of fire/earth mage, defense/dodge warrior (medium armor with sword and light shield) and dodge/stealth warrior (medium armor with two handed weapon). Game gets pretty easy after mage gets fireball. Hint: Fire mage is better if he does not know firebolt, because it has high cast time for very little damage.
GiGaSojgan, heavy armor hinders dodge. If you have two equally skilled warriors, one with heavy armor and another with medium, geared with the right resistance, the one with heavy armor will die first in most of the combats. I did the test, heavy armor guy always dies first.
Hints for hardcore: Medium armored warriors with sword and light shield can tank way better than heavy armored warriors. One point in attack for tireless warrior and one point in defense for parry master is totally worth it for any warrior. One point in dodge for salto is totally worth it for any mage. Always adapt your armor for opponent's damage type. My suggested team is two warriors and a mage. First warrior is high dexterity, medium armor with sword and light shield, go for dodge then stealth or defense. Second warrior is high dexterity, medium armor with two handed mace, go for stealth then dodge. Mage is earth/fire/magic, going first for earth elemental, then for fireball then getting magic passives. If you get wishes, it is often a good idea to ask for weapons.
Developers, make the initial selection of heroes less random. Instead of providing nine random units, make it one of each type: attack, defense, dodge, stealth, leadership, mage and cleric. If you give them reasonable stats, there will be less rerolling and more playing. Also, I don't think weapon specialists are needed in the initial selection.
Warrior skills: Have one point in shield bash then max crushing blow. After that, max glorious battle and then go for superior interception. Counter attack sucks. Warrior equips: get the weapon with highest attack speed possible, even if DPS is lower. More attack speed means more special attacks. Stun locking enemies means easy battles. Other itens, go for %special attack (more stuns) and immunities.
There is a mistake in my example: "For instance, if you have a 10x10 puzzle with 6 2 in a line, you can safely draw (6 - 10/2) = 1 pixel from the mid of the line to both sides, plus (2 + 1) = 3 extra pixels to the left. The line would end like this: [ - o o o o o - - - - ]. I don't think I need to tell you to watch for the edge numbers that are easy to solve, right? Have fun!
Start marking X at zeroes, then go for the big numbers. The tip is: let H be half the number of lines (rounded down). For each number A bigger than H, draw (A - H) pixels from the mid pixel to both sides of the line. For instance, if you have a 10x10 puzzle with 8 in a line, you can safely draw (8 - 10/2) = 3 pixels from the mid of the line to both sides. The line would end like this:
[ - - o o o o o o - - ]
This technique can be used again any time you discard another line of the grid.
If you have multiple numbers in a line together with a big number, you can use the past technique and draw the sum of those numbers plus the quantity of extra numbers as extra pixels to the opposing side of the numbers. For instance, if you have a 10x10 puzzle with 6 - 2 in a line, you can safely draw (6 - 10/2) = 1 pixel from the mid of the line to both sides, plus (1 + 1) = 2 extra pixels to the left. The line would end like this:
[ - - o o o o - - - - ]
Strategy to win nightmare easily:
- Monk archer + another monk archer (load this one) + cleric
- Equip cleric with Mace of Restoration and both archers with +damage bows. Other equipments are optional.
- Aways level up the monks before the cleric. They need the bonus damage.
Plus to stick it.
Thank you for the feedback. This is an interesting take on the problem.
