my first achievement won't check off; i have banked 10,000 points, and it has not given me the easy achievement!!!! any reason why?

The challenge in which you have to kill 80 enemies in the stage i find impossible. I've tried counting, and there are only 40 enemies. So i kept the car things alive and killed bugs and bombs endlessly, and still it has not worked. can anyone help?
