This game is fun for a while, but once you get all of the upgrades, it slows down, and the challenges aren't challenging anymore. A player can simply restart the level until he gets a rocket launcher with unlimited ammo (which isn't unlimited, the amount slowly goes down over time - yes, there is no way it will run out during gameplay, but it still isn't unlimited). The design is great, but a game needs to have the feeling of challenge all the way through. 4/5
This is a good concept, but the excessive reading takes so much away from the gameplay. The action needs to have a nice balance with the story, but this game leans too far to the story. 3/5
Level 3 is absolutely impossible. I'm sorry, but if I game can't be won, then it's not a fun game. If it's not a fun game, then it's not a good game. I enjoyed it until the third level, in which I get pissed off every time I'm beaten by an unfair AI system. 2/5
This is a pretty good game, easy flow, not too difficult, many challenging stages, great characters, and a cool Summon to save the day. One thing I would suggest is adding a conversion feature, where players can convert their excessive gold towards the end of the game into stone or crystals. Good game 4/5
@brainisdead: ...THAT'S THE POINT!!!!! The effects, the backrounds and the change in lighting are there for a reason: for added difficulty! It would be easy, and actually extremely boring, if these effects weren't in the game.
@codyr44: hahaha I know right! that's hillarious. I'll admit, I was kinda pissed that I had to start back from my last save, but it was still kind of unexpectedly funny ^^ I'm a little upset that you can't battle them once you get your gold pass, because I would like to at least try later on.
@lunarscape12: Status ailments are your friends! Use lot's of items that can both hurt and say confuse and/or poison the boss, like a noxious bomb would do. If nothing else, it makes the boss cure himself instead of hitting you ^^
I guess the best way to guarantee you won't ever die is to stay in one temple, dungeon, whathaveyou and level up like stupid mad haha yeah, it's time consuming, but when you're lvl 50 like Chapter 1, you pwn, because that's just what you're all about haha Mardek is the best free game ever! AMERICA! lol
Maybe this is just me talking, but you should definitely do all you can to try and get this series to the console stage, pseudolonewolf!!! I'm sure that all the work you put into this series is well worth making some major phone calls to some major companies and get some major gaming going! I'm no multimillion dollar developer, but I would jump on that train without hesitation. I am in awe, Sir (I'm assuming you're male, if not, my apologies haha). In awe.
I have just completed Mardek Chapters 1 and 2, and I have nothing but two handfuls of 5/5 stars! An ever growing world, with much yet undiscovered, which gives me an urge to play on! Superb battle system, with a wide range of status effects, powers, abilities, and a more unique reaction system! Love it! The character development and story are the best I've yet to find for free on the internet, especially in such a light and humorous tone, and I would definitely say far better than most pay and donate games. The item storage and Character carry-on feature is the most unique and exceptional idea I've ever heard! Magnificent job, pseudolonewolf! I can't wait to play the third chapter of this truly amazing epic adventure! ^^
