(Continued from last comment…) Also, Maris never leaves the beach. She's there literally 24/7. Also, Maris is adamant that the sea and seashells are not the same thing. Why would she get defensive unless she had some actual stake in one of those things? Also, thunder strikes when Maris tries to sing in her bad singing voice, as the sea is at its ugliest during a storm. Also, she wears all blue with a very wavy dress and her eyes are bright orange, like a sunset on the horizon. Also, "Mar" is Spanish for "Sea"... and her name is Maris. As for the 7 days thing, I'm not entirely sure, but it might have something to do with tides, like she can only manifest during the week of highest tides each month. Kinda out on a limb with that last one, but I think the rest makes sense. Maris is totally the sea.
Alright guys, I got all your spoilery explanation right here. Maris is the sea personified, and here's why. Cantus sees no one, he listens to no one, all he pays attention to is the sea. Maris (representing the sea) shows up to Cantus and Cantus alone because he's the only one who pays that much attention to the sea, blocking out everything else. The only other person to meet Maris is his mom, who shared his love for the sea as a kid. Once Cantus finally pays attention to his mom, he is not fully focused on the sea, and can no longer find Maris. More proof: Whenever Cantus talks about how much he loves the sea, Maris says "that's embarrassing," and even though Cantus thinks she means that he should be embarrassed, she says it while avoiding eye contact as though she is the one who's feeling it (as well as she doesn't want to be mean to Cantus). "Alright Mr. Luthier, I payed top dollar for you, what can you do?" - "Well, I can make flutes!" - "Powerful magic flutes with all kinds of descriptors and adjectives?" - "Nope, just flutes... Level 1... 170 gold..." - "You're at the top of your field and all you can do is make flutes?" - "Well, after i get some practice in I'll be able to make harps." - "You didn't practice any of this in all of those days you were hanging around that grungy bar? Did you prepare at all for this job?" - "I was busy standing around and staring in one direction and telling people that I'm a luthier who makes musical instruments." - "Really?" - "It's hard work man, you try doing that all day." - "...okay, fine, what kind of harps are we looking at after you make those flutes?" - "Level 2" - "Get out." ------ Hopefully my resources refilled while I was typing this.
The message is nice, if not shoved down your throat for most of the game. And now that I have shared an opinion that most of you disagree with, I'm sure it will get buried under a pile of - votes.
There's fun in there, or at least our consistent player base thinks so! :)
