@RompingWombat
Yeah, the game's extremely dead- it's a miracle the server still exists, though I suspect a lot of it is hosted client-side, given the way loading happens with bots.
If you want to play multiplayer, it's probably a good idea to invite your friends!
I've actually really loved this game, despite the fact that I don't play it as much as I might. I'm actually a little surprised at people's issues... I beat the octopus my first try, with Pixel, who people say is the hardest to play.
To be fair, a lot of this game is luck. But I've found that you can really tip it in your direction with the right upgrades- defense and counter can actually be more useful that health or attack upgrades. Maxed defense is 100%, and maxing out counter can get you up to 146% (at least, that's the number I remember).
The mechanics are good, as usual... but I'm really not sure about it. No story, which sucked, Tired status (which makes sense but is really annoying), and the people no longer talk. Also, one recruit per day, and levels? Sure, leveling up your own character was good, but ALL of them? Seriously?
Problems:
1) Coins are a rip-off. One gold coin is worth THREE, and everything costs 100+.
2) Coins ripoff #2. Ally kills don't give you coins.
3) When you buy a weapon, the enemy gets it too!?
4) Buying weapons doesn't let you use them right away, you have to pick them up.
5) Kongpanions are lousy.
6) An extension of Coin Ripoff #2. Upgrading your allies gets them more kills, which keeps you from getting anything new!
7) You can jump off the map in certain maps.
8) (this one is a preference) you can't shoot the final enemy when it ragdolls.
9) Endless mode: It's impossible to fight on Sewer Base! There's no enemies, allies, weapons, OR abilities! (also oak is dead rip)
10) The regular machine gun is A) actually an assault rifle B) overpriced.
6. BE TRAINED. You'll need some good skills to get past the second phase and kill the Zoul. I suggest playing the Acrobat challenges until you can at least 3-star level two.
7. BREAK A LEG. Well, don't, really. This is just here for me to wish you good luck. This is a really hard boss, and even using these tips, it's still possible to lose... after my first win, it kept taking me all my continues to defeat the Zoul.
3. BE READY. When you defeat the Zoul (depleting his health bar) only once, he resurrects, and shoots Cultist fireballs quickly. You can just run under the top one, jump or slide around the middle one, and jump over the low once. Since he only shoots them at three levels close to the ground, you can use the parachute to dodge a couple at a time. Reflexes are key here. Remember to hit the blue orbs when possible-- but not dying is of a greater priority.
4. BE PREPARED. Remember what the next move will be, and be able to dodge quickly-- but don't for any reason take your attention off the game without pressing pause first! That'll usually knock an armor off, if not kill you.
5. SAVE YOUR ARMOR. For the first round, with the fireball fans, lightning, and hyper beam, try not to lose your armor. You're really gonna need it on the second part.
Tips for defeating the Dark Zoul (or, how I did the impossible on my first try.)
1. BUY THE ARMOR AND DODGE UPGRADES. They save your life multiple times over. 2. KNOW THINE ENEMY. The Zoul will shoot fans of mage fireballs three times(these can usually be dodged by moving forward or back a bit), then shoot lightning directly downward. Make sure you jump over the electricity balls spawned by the lightning. For the hyper beam attack: BUY PARACHUTE UPGRADE, BOUNCE ON MUSHROOM, FLOAT, HIT ZOUL. This is actually a much easier attack, as you can bounce on the mushroom as the beam is firing. If you do that, and still miss him while he's stunned... Well, what can I say?
tip:
in early game, get the "Swift Slash" skill for Matt. Not only is it good against the Mighty Oak (if weak), it mops up the weaker enemies quite quickly.
@superducky32
I've played that game... still haven't figured out a way to defeat the demon. You have to hit it with its own attacks, but that's really hard to do.
So, of course, when I defeated the weird other wizard person, of course I thought I was done. So I went out... and was rewarded with... *drumroll please*
NOTHING!
then I figured out that I needed all the crystals, and went and cried in a corner.
